Meet the Team

Rusty

Rusty is a purebred Bloodhound and a proven working dog specializing in trailing and tracking in Colorado. Bred for stamina, focus, and with an exceptional nose, Rusty embodies the classic Bloodhound traits that have made the breed legendary in scent work for centuries. His ability to follow human scent over long distances and through complex environments—urban streets, forested trails, and rugged mountain landscapes alike—makes him a reliable and valuable partner in real-world search efforts. At just over year old Rusty has already partnered with multiple law enforcement agencies to help find missing and endangered people.

Through consistent training and field experience, Rusty has developed the calm intensity and determination required of a professional trailing and tracking dog. Whether he is working a fresh trail or one over a week old, he approaches each search with steady confidence, carefully processing scent and environmental clues to stay locked onto his subject. Rusty’s work is guided by a strong partnership with his handler, Charley, built on trust, clear communication, and countless hours of practice.

Beyond his impressive working ability, Rusty is known for his steady temperament and love of the job. He thrives when he is on the track, tail up and nose down, fully engaged in the work he was bred to do. In Colorado’s challenging and unpredictable environments, Rusty has proven himself time and again as a dedicated, skilled Bloodhound whose nose, drive, and reliability make him an outstanding tracking and trailing dog.

Charley

Charley is Rusty’s K-9 handler and an experienced scent-work professional with a background in working alongside law enforcement. With a deep respect for the precision and responsibility that tracking work requires, Charley brings a calm, methodical approach to every search and training session, ensuring each is conducted with accuracy, safety, and professionalism. Years of experience in high-pressure situations have shaped Charley’s ability to read both people and dogs, making quick, informed decisions when time and clarity matter most.

As Rusty’s handler, Charley has developed a strong working partnership built on trust, consistency, and clear communication. Charley is skilled at interpreting Rusty’s body language and scent behavior, knowing when he is confidently on track, when conditions are challenging, and when to adjust strategy to keep the search moving forward. This close teamwork allows Rusty and Charley to perform at their best.

Beyond field work, Charley is dedicated to maintaining high training standards and ethical handling practices. With a focus on continual learning Charley ensures that Rusty remains a reliable and effective tracking and trailing dog and looks forward to helping you and your dog develop those same skills.
